PENGAMBENGAN INDUSTRIAL AREA, JEMBRANA, BALI
Wealth of marine areas of Bali is not to be denied again. The potential of marine habitat has resulted in marine tourism activities and has grown rapidly worldwide. Behind the lively tourist activities, marine areas in the province is also rich in fishery potential.
Noted that almost all the districts which have a sea area in Bali has a fish landing centers, among others: Kedongan-Jimbaran (Badung regency), Amed kidnapped (Karangasem regency), Sangsit and Pegametan (Buleleng regency), Kusamba (Klungkung regency), and Pengambengan (Jembrana regency).
In order to accommodate the activities of fishing, the Provincial Government of Bali has set Pengambengan as the region's for fishing industry. Pengambengan Industrial Area is located on the western island of Bali, exactly in Jembrana regency. As an industrial area it is not surprising that in this area has grown lot of fishing industrial activities.
What's interesting is the region's fishermen gathered not only from Bali but also from around the region include: Banyuwangi, Madura and Sulawesi. This is because the location of Industrial Area Pengambengan is quite strategic. It is located in the western region of Bali, so relatively close to the main market of Java Island and is located at node fishing activity from the surrounding areas (among others: Muncar - Banyuwangi, and Madura).
Environmental conditions in the industrial area is quite good but the air quality is still lacking, which when entering this area already smelled a strong scent. Despite the stinging air condition is a characteristic fishing area but see the image of Bali as one of the world tourism destinations then this condition would require attention.
However, behind the environmental conditions that are less, the existence of this industrial area to be one point of growth that has driven the development of fisheries activities in the region. Where has stood approximately 18 factory consisting of several fish cannery and fish meal processing factory.
Apart from environmental issues, development of fishery activities in Pengambengan Industrial Area is one example of successful utilization of space to accommodate the needs of small communities which in this case is the fishermen. We hope through these descriptions to encourage the use of space in other areas that also accommodate the needs of small communities.
